3-Month Intensive Guitar Program

 

Course Description:

Note: The minimum age requirement for students of this program is 18 years.

3-Month Intensive - Professional Guitar Player Program...

In order to be accepted into the Professional Guitar 3-Month Intensive Program students must possess
a high enough level of playing skill to keep up with the demands of the course. All applicants may
not be accepted into the program. The application fee is non-refundable. Applicants declined
entrance into the program will receive a letter explaining the reasons for non-acceptance.
Unsuccessful applicants will be allowed to re-apply for the program after one year has lapsed.
Unsuccessful applicants may request a 60 min. consultation meeting with an instructor at no extra
charge. A review of an applicants areas of weak performance and necessary steps to improvement will
be discussed for successful future acceptance into the program.

Students will work as a group with several guest faculty members covering core curriculum material
as well as supplemental material selected personally by the instructors. Guitar performance
workshops and ensemble work with fellow students and instructors will be a primary focus during this
course. Once per week students will receive a 30 min. private guitar lesson with an assigned
personal teacher/coach to help guide them through any areas of difficulty. The private classes will
also develop technical skill and musical concepts in greater detail than the daily group sessions.
Classes are held: Monday - Friday 10:00 A.M. -2:00 P.M. with a 1.0 Hr. lunch break from
12:00 Noon - 1:00 P.M.

Students of this course will also be expected to perform pieces from charts & memory with the school’s
session musicians, (keyboardist, bassist, and drummer), log a specific number of core curriculum
in-class hours, and spend time working with instructors completing the recording studio course.
Project pieces, (which may include original pieces), for this course may be used by students to
produce a personal demo. Recording will be done at MidCanada Production Services Inc. with Engineer, “Howard Rissin.” www.midcan.com

Upon course completion, students are welcome to take the course again advancing to more difficult
subjects and musical styles until all of the Professional Core Curriculum has been completed, (Stages
one, two and three of the Creative Guitar advanced guitar program manuscripts). At the end of each
3-Month session students are welcome to take any test of the Advanced Guitar Program Levels. When
the number of live performance credits, recording studio credits, in-class hours, and test
requirements have been met, a diploma in Professional Guitar may be issued to successful graduates
of this program by the instructors and Creative Guitar Studio.
