Motor Re-Install:
The engine bay as well as the undercarriage were cleaned, sanded, sealed with
Rust-Mort, and then
treated to a thick coat, (2 coats in some areas), of high-gloss black Tremclad rust paint.
The engine
firewall was sanded down, primed with SEM acid-etching primer, and sealed with a coat of
Sub-Lime Lime paint.
After doing a lot of work cleaning and testing the engine and transmission, replacing
parts, etc., the motor was ready to go back in. New motor mounts were easy enough to
purchase, however there was a problem finding an original transmission mount. The one from
the truck was split near halfway through causing me a slight problem. However, the fine
folks over at Direct Auto Parts, www.directauto.ca
, gave me a great tip of using polyurethane silicone, (the type used to seal widsheilds
at auto-glass shops), to re-seal and fix the mount making it essentially good as new.
Thanks a million guys!
Once the engine was back in, and everything was hooked up again, it was fired up and ran just beautifully.
