CAB RESTORATION: Phase (1) Cab Removal off of Frame
| After removing both of the truck's cab's I began to notice that the parts
truck had a number of patches to the driver's side floor and driver's door jam. Luckily, (for some unknown reason), the passenger side of the parts truck was in good shape. The original body lines and reinforcing metal were in good enough condition to use as models for fabricating new sheet metal. This was certainly a surprise since the passenger side is generally the side which deteriorates worse from the puddles and road slush along the curb's of the road. It is a good bet that the parts truck was used extensively on the highway, not seeing much city travel. The next job coming up is to remove the window's, the dash assembly and other interior pieces so as to have the Dude's cab stripped down for metal fabrication, welding, bodywork, and of course eventual paint. |
