Next began the tedious process of removing the paint off of the cab. This was helped a great deal by using a high quality paint remover. I recommend, "Morton," Aircraft Paint Stripper. It took a 1/2 gallon to completely strip the cab of paint. One lucky thing was that this was still the original fatory paint, so the only paint under the top coat was the original primer.

Using a putty knife and coarse steel wool, (and tons of elbow grease), the cab took approx. 14 hours to strip of it's factory paint and primer. By the way, the paint stripper easily removed the Dude vinyl decals also. I've heard of folks removing applied decals, (Mopar used vinyl decals like crazy in 1970 and '71), with sandpaper. I wouldn't bother with that step if you are using a quality paint remover. By the way, when using a substance as powerful as aircraft paint stripper always use neoprine gloves, coveralls, and eye protection. If the stipper touches your skin it will burn badly. It will also melt plastic, (so if your wear glasses make sure they are protected with chemical resistant goggles). Of course, work in a well ventilated area. The vapors from the stripper will make you quite ill if you breathe them for prolonged periods.
